Why that particular “program” at that “university”?

Once you have built a base about your academics, show that you have invested in knowing the core philosophy of the program, read department pages, seen course material and faculty members, assessed any special lab or facility, any research opportunities, clubs, etc. This is an important part of your essay because it demonstrates you know what you are doing. It also shows that you are clear about your goals and know how the curriculum will align with them.

Finally, universities are looking for students who will be their brand ambassadors and endorse them in their social circles. They also want to know the value you will add to the campus and how you will elevate the quality of experience for your cohort.
